A Great Disney Guide Book

Birnbaum's Disneyland Resort 2008 is an information packed Disney guide that will help you plan a visit to the Disneyland Resort. The many editors have covered all the bases. From the best times to go, to where to stay, to what to do while you're there, you'll find it all in this official guide to the Disneyland Resort.

Birnbaum's Disneyland Resort 2008 The first section, "Getting Ready to Go" offers many ideas and resources for planning your trip. If I had read this Disney guide before our February 2006 trip, we might have scheduled it differently. We arrived at Disneyland the day after President's Day, one of the most crowded weeks of the year. The lines to get into the park stretched all the way to Disney's California Adventure, but we still had a great time.

"Accomodations" is the next topic covered in the book. The Disneyland Resort hotels are covered in detail - from the Neverland themed pool area at the Disneyland Hotel to the 160 bunk bed rooms at Disney's Grand Californian.

Birnbaum's Disneyland Resort 2008 also includes reviews of 14 Good Neighbor hotels. These are hotels and motels near Disneyland that are included in your vacation package options. The remaining Good Neighbor hotels are listed with contact information.

The hotels included in the Good Neighbor program are subject to change, so, as the Disney guide points out, it's best to confirm with your travel agent or reservationist if a particular hotel is still part of the program.

A handful of coastal hotels are reviewed in case you want to head to the beach for part of your stay. If a Bed and Breakfast is your preferred type of lodging you'll appreciate the end of this section which recommends several smaller inns and Bed and Breakfasts.

The Disneyland Park and Disney's California Adventure sections cover the theme parks in detail. Both start with basic information about tickets and guest services, then travel through each "land" or area of the parks. You'll find ride descriptions, history, "Birnbaum's Best" recommendations and more. Also look for "Hot Tips" that give visit-enhancing information and ideas. Shopping and Entertainment wrap up your visits to these sections.

The 2008 edition includes information about new and updated rides. You'll find details about the new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage that opened last summer, and the new Toy Story Mania set to open in Summer 2008. You can also read about the updates made to Pirates of the Caribbean and the new Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island.

You've got to eat sometime and the "Good Meals, Great Times" section of Birnbaum's Disneyland gives you plenty of information on where to eat at the Disneyland Resort. It covers both sit down restaurants and fast food with a listing of which meals are served and how much you can expect to spend.

Birnbaum's Disneyland Resort 2008 A listing of shopping and entertainment options outside the parks rounds out the "Great Times" part of this section. You'll find details about Downtown Disney as well as other area clubs, concert venues and more.

The last two sections, "Sports" and "Orange County & Beyond" offer ideas and information on activities outside the Disneyland Resort. Here you'll find everything from golf and tennis to area museums and other theme parks.

Birnbaum's Disneyland Resort 2008 is a valuable resource for planning your visit to Disneyland and the Los Angeles area. It's also a small enough Disney guide that you can easily take it along on the trip and refer to it as you go.
